On 9 October 2015 at ILO headquarters in Geneva, a tripartite meeting of experts adopted a set of policy guidelines that aim to enable ILO constituents to manage the impacts on enterprises, workers and economies of the transition to a greener, low-carbon economy. The “just transition” framework, is based on an in-depth review of country experiences and lessons learned (read more here)and provides policy recommendations on how to maximize opportunities for sustainable enterprise creation and decent job creation. The guidelines are to be piloted in a number of countries in 2016-2017 under the Green Initiative of the Director-General.
