With Workers’ Memorial Day/International Commemoration Day for Dead and Injured Workers just a few days away, it seems set to be the biggest commemoration ever. Early indications are that a record number of unions around the world are planning 28 April events on what is the biggest single workplace health and safety activity on the calendar, beating anything organised by official safety bodies, governments or employers’ groups.

Hundreds of thousands of people in up to 100 countries will be involved in thousands of activities ranging from commemoration, to protests, to educational activities and flash mobs.

A map of events worldwide, produced by the global union federation ITUC and Hazards magazine, will by the end of the week be crowded with pins, showing how important the day has become to unions and campaigners the world over.

Your union must be there!
