Rio+20 Dialogues

The Sustainable Development Dialogues, to be held in Riocentro, between June 16 to 19, in the context of the Rio+20 Conference, is an instrument to convene experts and stakeholders from civil society, including private sector, NGOs, scientific community, among other major groups, with a view to defining recommendations that will be taken directly to the Heads of State and Government during the High-Level Segment of Rio+20. This online platform is an instrument to ensure broad, democratic and diverse participation in the Sustainable Development Dialogues process.

Webinar - May 10: Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing - Report of the High-level Panel on Global Sustainability in Light of Rio+20

The High-Level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP) was established by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to formulate a new blueprint for sustainable development and low-carbon prosperity. The Panel's final report - "Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing" - contains 56 recommendations to put sustainable development into practice, and to mainstream it into economic policy to be submitted for consideration at the upcoming Rio+20 Summit (June 2012). During the event, Mr. János Pásztor, GSP Executive Secretary and Assistant-Secretary General of the UN, will discuss the relevance of the GSP report and recommendations to the work of international financial institutions, such as the World Bank.

Asia to overtake Europe as global solar power grows

AlertNet, 7 May 2012 - The world's solar power generating capacity will grow by between 200 and 400 percent over the next five years, with Asia and other emerging markets overtaking leadership from Europe, a European industry association said on Monday.

US solar firm to invest $320 mil. in Daegu
