Sustainable development cannot be achieved without equality between women and men. This seminar organized by the Nordic Council of Ministers aims to reaffirm the criticality of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the achievement of sustainable development in all its three dimensions: Economic, social and environmental.

The seminar aims to increase awareness of the link between women’s economic contributions and sustainable development. The message is that any serious shift towards sustainable development requires the use of women’s resources and talents. To make this come true there is a need to develop national welfare structures like education, health care, care for children and the elderly in order to ensure women’s full participation in work and society.

The interactive multi-stakeholder exchange and discussions at the seminar will give examples of countries with recent sustainable and equitable development.  (read more)
