This publication aims to share the preliminary key findings of ADB study entitled Towards Resource Efficient Economies in Asia and the Pacific. It provides an overview of resource inefficiency and its consequences in the Asia and Pacific region, describes challenges and key actions taken in the region, and identifies new business opportunities and some directions for the way forward. The study was initiated by the ADB to facilitate environmentally beneficial investments in Asia and the Pacific and to support the 3R Initiative of the G8 nations as adopted at their annual summit meeting at Sea Island in 2004.
